Centre Island is part of the Toronto Islands and it’s located in the western part of Lake Ontario in Toronto city. Centre Island is situated close to Downtown Toronto and it’s a relaxing escape from the concrete city life. It’s a perfect location to spend an entire day with family and friends.

Ferry to Centre Island

Getting to this island is possible only by a ferry; it’s a short ferry ride from the city to the island. The City of Toronto operates ferries that carry passengers hourly from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, located at the foot of Bay Street at Queens Quay. You can buy the ferry tickets at the booth near the ferry terminal or buy it online and avoid the long queue at the ticket counter; there will also be a long queue of people waiting to get on to the ferry too. Bi-cycles and pets are allowed on the ferry; you can rent bikes at the pier. You can also rent a kayak or a canoe from the Boat Rental near the Shrubbery Maze. Due to high demands for boats in the summer, it’s better to get to the rental early in the day.

 

During the summer and spring seasons, Centre Island is a popular place to visit; loads of things to do on the Island for both adults and kids. Centre Island offers a great view of the Toronto Skyline. You can have a picnic or a barbeque at the park, and enjoy your food with a great view of the city. There are many walking and biking trails on the island that’s great to explore. The beaches are well-maintained, swimming here is permitted. Boating on the lake with the view of the city skyline and the islands is really fun.

For kids, there’s the famous Centreville Amusement Park; there are so many fun-rides available for kids and parents.

The Far Enough Farm is another attraction on the island that showcases so many animals and it’s definitely a well-kept farm. There are many eateries and food outlets available on the island. It’s definitely a great place to capture some splendid pictures. Center Island is a fun place to spend an entire day with lots of activities to do for all ages.
