Quebec on Foot
Quebec City located in the Quebec province is an ancient city that possesses great history and breathtaking architecture. The best way to see Quebec City is by walking; be prepared for lots of walking that’s needed to explore the beauty of this city. There’s also the guided bus tour but that’s not as fun as touring this city on foot. My top must see places from Quebec City are: Old Quebec, Terrasse Dufferin, Lower Town (Basse-Ville), Breakneck Steps (L’Escalier Casse-Cou), Place Royale, Upper Town, Basilique Cathedrale – Notre-Dame-de-Quebec, and Parliament Building.
This part of Quebec City is such a wonderful place; it’s packed with French charm. If you like walking tour, then this place is a must see. It was wonderful to walk through the history of Quebec. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in this area. You will also find lots of souvenir stores here, if you want to carry from here a piece of its charm with you. Basilique Cathedrale – Notre-Dame-de-Quebec is a serene church in Old Montreal. This church showcases impressive European architecture that absolutely must not be missed.
Lower Town (Basse-Ville)
This is an absolute beauty; I loved the stroll through Lower Town. It has colorful buildings with great architecture. The Breakneck Steps (L’Escalier Casse-Cou) that’s in the Lower Town is always bustling with tourists and shoppers. There are lot of shops and restaurants here. The Place Royale is a small square located in lower Town. A busy square with lots of tourists, there’s a church, museum, and shops; a nice place to stop and rest before heading on your tour.
This is another place that’s very similar to Lower Town and great to stroll. It has a lot of steep streets with great view of the city. It was amazing wandering through the cobble stone streets. There’s so much of beauty here to soak in.
It has a very nice boardwalk with lots of chairs to sit and relax, and enjoy the view of the Quebec City and St. Lawrence River. You will always find some street performers here entertaining the crowd.
This is a very stunning building, both from the inside and outside. There’s a neat and well -maintained garden complimenting the structure.
A visit to Quebec City is a must to enjoy its beauty, ancient history, architecture, and culture. It was a remarkable experience visiting Quebec City and definitely a treasured memory. Although I have visited this city many times, I always get awed by its beauty during my every visit.
